My review of Ubuntu beta Lucid Lynx: Solid as a rock and Awesome
So this weekend, I launched and updated my Karmic Koala (Ubuntu 9.11) the latest beta of Lucid Lynx (LTS Ubuntu 10.04).
To put it frankly – and this is the only way I tend to communicate – is one of the best Ubuntu version yet … even in the beta stage of development.
Now is only the second installation of Ubuntu beta I ran. The first was about 7.04, which was out of Feisty Fawn. This beta broke my WiFi adapter and gave me some important issues.
My questions I was so bad that I moved over to the holder of Ubuntu Mint. Finally, I went back to Ubuntu as my distro full time.
This version beta not the same defects that had Feisty Fawn. In fact, the improvement was so great to be regarded as perfect. The first thing that attracts attention before restarting, after the update is the new default theme called Environment.
The best way to describe is that purple-and very Mac-like. The minimize, maximize and close buttons are placed in the left corner as well. I do not care for this configuration.
Allusion gCon (diznix.com Accessories for the hot tip) Open-editor in the terminal. Go to apps-> metacity General. "Change the setting to the next button_layout, including the colon, to return the standard design window Zoom reduce nearby.
This will put things in order.
The new theme is dark and handsome. The icons are big improvements in terms of enamel, on this occasion.
Now, other than appearance, one of the most important things in this release was the integration of Gwibber in the statement. I can not vouch for the ability of a Twitter application. I love it. Not as deep as Tweet Deck. If there is no chirping stop, TweetDeck is a bit too much and overloaded. Gwibber a substitute Nice and implement solid enough. The answers at the end tweets that crosses the messaging system Ubuntu. Very hot.
The big news that deployed during this liberation has been the elimination of the HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer process boot.) I have not seen much of a performance boost, but does not really measure the start time is old.
Has also been updated for the controller NVidia native immense in this update, but I can not comment on the performance improvements, because I am running an Intel integrated card in my laptop.
These three characteristics are what most people will use. There are some other features of interest to the server part of the release, and really could not but Ubuntu music store (although probably going to give me a shot), or synchronization OneFile.
In general, this version (Sorry, the beta version) is the strongest I've seen of Ubuntu, for now. This is an important step forward in terms of interface design and modernization, with stable performance.
Some may argue against it as a scam of Mac, but I just Flat Out benefit.
